Mac OS X snow leopard which is version number 10.6 is the seventh full release of the MAC OS X operating system.  It was announced on June 8th 2008 at the Apple worldwide developers conference (WWDC is the acronym) and the official release date was August 28th 2009.

The minimum hardware requirements for Mac OS X Snow Leopard are an intel based Macintosh Computer, 1GB of RAM, 5GB of free disk space and a DVD drive if you are installing from disk or an external USB or firewire hard drive.  Mac OS X snow leopard does not support any PowerPC based Macs.

Currently, there are only three available types of licenses for MAC OS X Snow Leopard.  They consist of the single use, family pack and the Leopard upgrade.  The single use license is for upgrading from any prior version of MAC OS X or doing a complete install for only one copy.  The family pack license is just like the single user license except that it is good for up to five copies.  The Leopard upgrade license is similar to the single use license but you must have a legal copy of MAC OS X Leopard installed.

Included with the purchase of Mac OS X Snow Leopard is iLife ’09 which includes iMovie, Garage Band, iWeb, iDVD, iPhoto, and mobileme web gallery.  The reception of the release has been fairly positive with most of the users of the new operating system noticing an overall performance in speed.
