Black Forest Fudge is the perfect homemade candy for Valentine’s day.  This recipe combines the tartness of cherry preserves with the decadent sweetness of creamy fudge, for a delightfully sinful treat.  This fudge recipe takes only a few minutes to make, and has the bonus of being perfectly suited to cooking in the microwave.  This is a recipe that is easy and fun to make, but one that you and your Valentine will absolutely love.

You will want to use a high-quality cherry preserve that contains large chunks of fruit.

Black Forest Fudge

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups bittersweet chocolate chips (60% cacao)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (2oz.)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2/3 cup high quality cherry preserves (Bonne Maman Cherry Preserves is a good choice)

Directions:

1. Line an 8″x8″ baking pan with aluminum foil and spray it with non-stick cooking spray.

2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, condensed milk, chocolate chips, and cherry preserves.

3. Microwave the fudge mixture in 30-second increments, stirring after every 30 seconds, until the chocolate is melted and the fudge is smooth in consistency.

4. Pour the fudge into the prepared baking pan and smooth it into an even layer with a rubber spatula.  Take some cherries from the remaining preserves and scatter them over the top, and press them lightly into the fudge.

5. Place the fudge in the refrigerator to set for at least 2 hours.  Once the fudge is set, cut it into 1-inch square and serve at room temperature.  Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to seven days.

With the cherries on the top, Black Forest Fudge is a beautiful and rich, chocolaty treat.  If your sweetheart loves chocolate and cherries, this is a perfect candy recipe to make for them  for Valentine’s day, or really any day.  Anyone you make Black Forest Fudge for is sure to love this decadent recipe.
